Police book 2 habitual peddlers in Sopore | KNO

Srinagar, Oct 03 (KNO): As part of its intensified campaign against narcotics, Police in Sopore on Friday said to have booked two habitual drug peddlers under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (PIT NDPS Act). “The offenders have been identified as Umar Farooq Sheikh son of Farooq Ahmad Sheikh resident of Seeloo Sopore and Abdul Hamid Mir son of Abdul Rashid Mir resident of Janwara Sopore. Both are repeat offenders with multiple NDPS cases against them. Despite repeated preventive actions, they continued to indulge in the narcotics trade, posing a persistent threat to public health and safety. They have been lodged in Kot Bhalwal Jail, Jammu and District Jail, Poonch respectively,” a police spokesman said in a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO). Meanwhile, J&K Police reiterated its zero-tolerance policy towards narcotics and urges the public to remain vigilant, report drug-related activities, and join hands in the mission to build a drug-free society—(KNO)
